Creative Directing and Producing

MED2000
This course explores the roles of creative producing and directing in media projects. Students learn to lead both vision and execution across formats like film, TV, animation, games, and XR. Emphasis is placed on balancing artistic goals with production realities, fostering collaboration, and navigating storytelling in both linear and interactive media.

This course integrates the core principles of creative producing and directing to provide students with a holistic understanding of leadership in contemporary media production. Through interdisciplinary teamwork, case-based learning, and practical workshops, students will explore the dual responsibilities of shaping a project's creative vision and managing its execution across film, TV drama, animation, games, and XR, including Virtual Production (VP).

Students will learn to balance artistic ambition with financial and organizational constraints, applying iterative planning methods and effective collaboration strategies. Emphasis is placed on developing the skills to lead a project from concept to completion—crafting compelling narratives, establishing cohesive aesthetics, and directing creative talent—while navigating the realities of production environments.

By bridging the gap between linear and interactive storytelling, students will gain insight into the unique challenges of creative leadership across diverse media formats. The course prepares students to articulate ideas clearly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain artistic integrity throughout the production lifecycle.
