Nature Guiding
NKO117
This course focuses on nature preservation and on the nature guide as a communicator of nature-based knowledge and experiences. The course has both a theoretical as well as a practical approach.
Contents:
- nature guiding as academic field and profession
- the history of nature guiding
- the organizing of nature guiding work in Norway
- guiding, communication and information about awareness work towards various target groups
- group processes, communication and interaction during various outdoor activities
- review and assessment of different kinds of information work
Upon successful completion of this course, the student:
Knowledge:
- has knowledge of basic pedagogy and methodology required for operating as nature guide
Skills:
- has increased his or her skills for working with various nature-based guiding tasks and activities
General competence:
- can apply this knowledge and these skills to work with nature guiding related to various themes and target groups
No tuition fees. Semester fees and cost of course literature apply.
Compulsory
Lectures, field-based teaching as well as practical-methodological assignments.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
All aids permitted.
