Norwegian Language and Grammar

Are you interested in learning the basics of Norwegian language bokmål? This course starts at beginner level, but the progression is relatively fast. Oral practice will be central, and the course requires a high degree of participation from the students.

The students will be given a basic introduction to Norwegian official language (bokmål). The course starts at beginner level, but the progression will be relatively fast. Oral practice will be central, and the course requires a high degree of participation from the students. The students participate in conversation groups, answer questions, and give individual presentations.

Important course elements are:

  • Basic grammar: morphology and syntax
  • Vocabulary
  • Rules of pronunciation
  • Reading, speaking and answering questions in class
  • Own work as homework and written assignments
The course is part of the semester package Norwegian and Indigenous Language and Culture.

KNOWLEDGE

The student

  • has knowledge about the Norwegian language on elemantary level.

SKILLS

The student

  • can listen and understand freqently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. family, housing, education and work)
  • can read simple texts with information about basic topics
  • can interact in conversations with simple information on familiar topics and activities
  • can express oneself orally and be able to use several phrases and sentences in order to describe familiar and routine matters
  • can write simple texts, notes and messages

General competence

The student

  • can understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and simple statements about themselves and what is familiar and close.
  • can participate in simple, familiar interaction situations if the interaction partners adapt the language and are supportive.

QUALIFICATION

Level A2 - elementary (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

No costs except semester registration and course literature.
Compulsory in the semesterpackage Norwegian and Indigenous Language and Cultures.
Lectures and group work in different forms.
The study programme is evaluated annually by the students. This is part of the university's quality assurance system.

Compound evaluation - all parts must be approved for the final grade in the course

Compulsory attendance (OD): Minimum 80 %. Approved/Not approved

Written examination (SK): Duration 6 hours, counts 60% of the total grade, assessed A-F.

Oral examination (MU): Duration 20 minutes, counts 40% of the total grade, Assessed A-F
