Organization, management, and Strategy
This subject provides an introduction to the fundamental components of organization, leadership, and strategy, with a focus on foundational understanding and the basics of organizations' relationships with their environment, social responsibility, and ethics.
The course gives an introduction to the basics of organization, management and strategy with focus on basic understanding and the fundamentals of organizations' relationship to the environment, corporate social responsibility and ethics.
The subject is reserved for the study programme Bachelor's degree in Circular Bioeconomy. Other students can get admitted if there are places available. Contact student advisor.
Students must meet current admission requirements for the associated study program.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of organizational structure, organizational culture, organizational environment and power
- Knowledge of objective, internal and external analysis, resource-based and generic strategies
- Knowledge of key management theories
- Knowledge of personnel management
- Knowledge of corporate social responsibility and ethics in enterprises
Skills:
- Evaluate organizations’ functionality
- Use relevant tools for strategic analysis and draw conclusions from these
- Reflect on your own management skills
- Reflect on corporate social responsibility
General competence:
- Have insight into ethical challenges in organizations and in the exercise of leadership and strategy.
- Use theory of organization, management and strategy to discuss the structure and culture of organizations, discuss possible choices of direction.
- Exchange views on good management and contribute towards good practice.
No costs except semester registration fee and the cost of the literature on the reading list. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Compulsory
Lectures, seminars
The study program is evaluated by the students each semester by means of course and study program surveys. Thes evaluations are included in Nord University’s quality assurance system for education.
Calculator. Generating an answer using ChatGPT or similar artificial intelligence and submitting it wholly or partially as one's own answer is considered cheating.
No prior knowledge is required beyond the admission requirement.
