The course involves an internship, up to 18 weeks, at Nord’s Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture.
The course involves an internship, up to 18 weeks (37.5 hrs/week) and 30 ECTS, at Nord’s Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture. The credits awarded from this course will depend on the duration of the internship, which must be agreed to before the start of the semester. Priority will be given to students from Nord’s partner universities. All students must contact the faculty through international.fba@nord.no to inquire about internship opportunities. The content of the internship must be agreed upon between the student and the supervisor at Nord before the start of the semester.
Only available to incoming exchange students and single course applicants (previously freemovers).

The applicant must

• be a student in a bachelor’s or master’s programme within biology or other related fields

• have completed a minimum of 1.5 years of their bachelor’s degree or 1 semester of their master’s degree

After completion of the internship

Knowledge

The student:

  • has knowledge of important topics, theories, problems, processes, tools and methods in the subject area of the internship
  • is familiar with research and development work in the subject area
  • can update their knowledge in the subject area of the internship

Skills

The student:

  • can apply academic knowledge to practical and theoretical problems and explain their choices
  • can reflect on their own practical execution of tasks and adjust under supervision
  • can find, assess and refer to information and academic material and relate it to practical tasks
  • masters relevant tools and techniques

General competence

The student:

  • has insight into relevant ethical issues relating to the subject area
  • can plan and carry out tasks and projects alone or as part of a group and in accordance with ethical requirements and principles
  • can exchange opinions with others with background in the subject area and participate in discussions concerning the development of good practice

In addition to the semester fee, it is assumed that the student has a laptop computer at his/her disposal.

Other costs: Outdoor field gear or other gear might be required depending on type of internship.

Internship/Practical placement. Elective.
Internship under a research division at the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.

Compound Assessment (SV), grading scale Passed / Not Passed.

  • Practical training (PR), comprises 100/100 of the grade, grading scale Passed / Not Passed.
  • Work requirement (AK), Placement report, comprises 0/100 of the grade, grading scale Passed / Not Passed.
Generating an answer using ChatGPT or similar artificial intelligence and submitting it wholly or partially as one's own answer, is considered cheating.
