Financial Accounting and Accounting Standards

REG2011
The course explores the accounting issues related to the entity's formal financial statements with an emphasis on developing the understanding of how the accounting theory, accounting legislation and accounting standards applies to accounting issues.

Knowledge

The candidate should have:

  • knowledge of key standards for the preparation of financial statements
  • familiarity with the entity responsible for reporting on CSR
  • knowledge of ethical accounting technical issues, including the border with manipulation of accounts
  • knowledge to describe requirements for the most important notes to the financial statements and annual report
  • knowledge of the conceptual framework of IFRS and selected international standards

Skills

The candidate should:

  • be able to recognize and measure all the main items in the income statement, balance sheet and specification of financial statements
  • be able to prepare an accounting for acquisitions with tax and minorities
  • be able to prepare consolidated accounts
  • be able to prepare financial statements in which the equity method is applied

General competences

The candidate should:

  • be able to convey key subject matter through relevant forms of expression
  • have the knowledge in order to exchange views and experiences with other professionals and help develop good practice
  • be able to reflect on ethical issues within the profession
  • be able to see the topic in a broader context in a societal perspective
Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Compulsory
Lecture. Group work associated with submissions.
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies. These evaluations are included in the university's quality assurance system.
