Do you want to invest in your future? Then the study of Business English is for you!
The course develops advanced skills in cross-cultural communication, particularly the use of English in the financial and corporate sectors. Students are guided in the development of written and spoken English skills used to assume leadership in these environments. After guided study of theory, as well as participation in simulations and reflections thereof, students will create a portfolio that demonstrates their proficiency in the topic. 
Throughout the class, students are given the opportunity to:
  • Become familiar with effective methods for the development of good written and oral language skills
  • Develop the practical communication skills necessary to be an effective communicator
  • Explore the background of the finance and corporate sectors and further their language study in this context
  • Anticipate coming trends in the business world through study of English language business media sources (and to participate in this discussion)
No special costs except syllabus literature.
Compulsory for Bachelor in English

Weekly classes that include practice in English language skills. The English for Business Students textbook (McKenzie, Ian) and Niall Fergusen's Ascent of Money are required. Other course material will be made available on Canvas, and includes texts such as

Participation in the lectures is not compulsory, but all students must submit weekly assignments and complete a presentation in order to sit for the exam in the course. 

There will be an internal evaluation of the course in the middle of the semester and at the end of term. In addition we ask that the students take part in the centrally administered evaluation at the end of term.

Students are provided short answer and essay questions in a written exam to demonstrate their skill and mastery of course content. Practice exams are provided on Canvas. 

NOTE: Spring 2021: The written school examination has been changed to home examination.
