Music 1
The course has three main elements: basicperformance skills, ensemble singing and composing.
In this unique music program for physical theatre actors, you will learn practically as a class ensemble. Through a wide range of exercises with singing, musical skills, you will acquire musical skills and develop the ability to listen, focus, cooperate, and strive towards a high quality in your work.
You will develop ear training, singing technique, repertoire knowledge, ensemble skills, and concert experience through ensemble singing work.
You will learn to compose through an intuitive, learning-by-ear approach. Through creative tasks, you will learn about the fundamental elements of musical form and musical style. You will be introduced to the analysis and use of music in theater and film, and develop an awareness of music's function as a co-storyteller.

Practical subject
Compulsory subject
All teaching takes place at the place of study.
The teaching is organized in fixed weekly work sessions and extended work sessions in connection with screenings and concerts. Work outside fixed times must be expected in periods.
Specific forms of work:
Scenic basic skills .
- Ensemble practice: Teaching in a full class with a teacher, training and problem solving in a full class
- Ensemble singing: rehearsal of repertoire, partly in groups, partly in full class, led by a teacher
- Rhythm: practical exercises and problem solving, led by a teacher and student-led
- Coordination: practical exercises and problem solving, led by the teacher
- Motor skills. practical exercises and problem solving, led by a teacher
- Listening and hearing: practical exercises, led by a teacher or student -led
- Simultaneous skills: training on complex exercises, led by teacher demonstration to the audience
Ensemble song
- Warm-up practice : Teaching in full class
- Introduction to voice care : Teaching in a full class
- Establishment of independent practice work: Individual guidance and class teaching
- Aural intonation and timbre work: practice with a full class
- Rehearsal of repertoire: practice in voice groups and full class
- Performance of repertoire. Screenings and concerts with the public
Composition
- An intuitive, ear-based approach to creation: Teaching about different approaches to composition.
- Musical parameters, structure and form: Full class teaching, group task solutions, guidance along the way , concluding screenings with feedback.
- Musical style: Teaching in a full class, group -wise task solutions, guidance along the way , concluding screenings with feedback.
Knowledge of the use of music in theater and film.
- Introduction to the analysis and composition of music for theater and film: class teaching, individual analyses, discussions
- Improvisation: Various exercises in full class, group exercises
- Testing of self-produced music in a theater production: the students' own work in connection with creative productions
All work on the subject requires that the students participate and contribute at all times. Therefore, the subject has compulsory attendance.
Nord University works continuously to improve the quality of its studies. In this work, we work closely with the students: in that the students participate in the evaluation of both the individual courses and the study as a whole. Evaluation in each course will take place by:
- At the start of a course: clarification of expectations between lecturer and students
- Continual evaluation throughout the semester
- Final evaluation
Comprehensive evaluation of the study takes place at regular meetings between representatives for the students and study leaders at Nord University. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
Composite Assessment - all components must be approved/passed to receive a grade in the course.
Mandatory Attendance (OD): Mandatory attendance in teaching is assessed as approved/not approved. A minimum of 90% attendance is required. Counts for 0/100 of the final grade.
Work requirements (AK): All performances are work requirements. The work requirements are given as a stage presentation of given tasks. Assessed as approved/not approved. Counts for 0/100 of the final grade.
1st Semester:
Practical Exam (PE): Joint examination in the whole class (stage performance). Individual assessment. Duration of up to six hours. Grading scale: pass/fail. Counts for 50/100 of the final grade.
2nd Semester:
Practical Exam (PE): Examination in groups (stage performance) Individual assessment. Duration up to six hours. Grading scale: pass/fail. Counts for 50/100 of the final grade.
