The project manager must inform the Faculty or Research and Development Division (AFU) upon receiving the decision, whether the project is approved or denied. This helps in gaining insights from the application process, aiming to improve the quality of future project proposals.
In case of rejection, there should be further consideration of upcoming calls where the entire or parts of the application could be reused.
The evaluation process focuses on fostering learning and advancement. The project manager, alongside with any involved research advisors in the project's development and application writing, will engage in a comprehensive evaluation process, which includes:
- Review of the received evaluation from the funder
- Evaluation of the support provided during the process of development of the proposal
- If the project is declined, should it be submitted in the future open calls for proposals?
- Suggestions for improvement

Project granted
Once project is granted, it is important to ensure a good administration of the project. Start planning an internal start-up meeting with parties involved in the project, including faculty administration.
Discuss crucial aspects of your project with your project controller, such as reporting schemes, payment structures, time sheets and other pertinent information.
For Horizon Europe calls, the Research and Development Division (AFU) provides support during the grant agreement preparation phase. It is essential to initiate contact as soon as possible, given the tight deadlines associated with this process.
Please see guidelines for facilitating a start-up meeting.
The faculty project controllers typically manage all post-grant support. In specific cases related to Horizon Europe or other substantial grants, assistance from AFU will be provided.
Before entering into any legally binding collaboration, familiar yourself with the guidelines for externally financed activities at Nord.
