Knowledge
The candidate:
- has extensive knowledge of Norwegian as a first and second language.
- has knowledge of national minority languages and sibling languages.
- has knowledge of spoken language with sociolinguistics and dialects.
- has knowledge of language history, language change processes in older and newer times, and the current standardization of Nynorsk and Bokmål.
- has extensive knowledge of spoken communication, rhetoric, reading and writing and further development of basic language skills.
Skills
The candidate:
- can use knowledge of grammar and language, texts and literature in the analysis of spoken, written and multimodal texts
- can facilitate varied work with language and literature in traditional and new media.
- can use relevant methods and new technologies in ways that promote collaboration and professional progression in the further reading and writing education.
- can map and assess reading and writing skills and learning and provide constructive feedback.
- can write academic texts in Nynorsk and Bokmål.
General competence
The candidate:
- Has insight into the history and character of Norwegian as a linguistic, literary, cultural and educational subject.
- Is familiar with research on Norwegian didactics and development work in the field, and can discuss ethical questions in research.
- Can plan, conduct and evaluate professional and cross-professional collaborative development work in grades 5-10, in cooperation with others.
- can convey subject material about language, literature, texts and media using relevant forms of expression.
- can work critically and independently with professional and didactic issues.
Learning activities and teaching methods include:
- Individual and group study

- Testing and assessment tasks
- Practical and aesthetic approaches
- Seminars
- Oral and written presentations
Active participation is encouraged. E-learning is an important part of the programme. Online activities supplement traditional learning activities.
Assessment aims to demonstrate achievement of learning outcomes. Some activities are defined as compulsory.
Reflection upon teaching practice also forms an important part of students¿ development as teachers.
Compulsory attendance (OD): Attendance at least 80% of all teaching. Grading scale: approved / not approved.
Assessment task (AK): Students will submit work done individually and in groups. Grading scale: approved / not approved.
Written school examination (SK): 6 hours. Bokmål. Accounts for 100% of overall grade. Grading scale A-F.
