The event brought together 12 young researchers from the member universities of the SEA-EU alliance in Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain and, of course, Norway. For three days, the participants prepared themselves to share their work with a broad audience in an open dialogue about scientific advances in different fields.
For Mora Bieli-Bianchi, taking part in the Science Show was both a challenge and a big opportunity.

“I didn’t have a lot of experience in Science Communication before going to Kiel, but it was super inspiring to see how science can connect people on a very personal level, no matter if we came from different countries and disciplines”, says Bieli-Bianchi.
In the Science Show, Mora Bieli-Bianchi presented the current progress of his PhD project about rural journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
“Presenting my research to a broader and big crowd in a way that resonates to them made me think a lot on the value of my work and myself as a researcher”, he says.
Reflecting on the event and the alliance’s role, Cristóbal highlighted the importance of collaboration.
“SEA-EU is a magnific platform for all of us to participate and collaborate with people from all over Europe. It’s a real gift that Nord is part of it, and I really recommend this experience to my fellow PhDs”, he states.
The event not only showed the strength of the alliance but also helped to inspire more openness.
“Taking part of this event has really given me inspiration to try to generate similar spaces to share our good work here at Nord with our communities. I think we need to get closer to the people, so I’ll commit to find those arenas in the future”.
What is Kiel Science Show?
In the Science Show, young scientists talk about their research in short, easy-to-understand presentations. In doing so, they address a broad, also non-scientific audience. Since 2011, it has established itself as a fixed program item of Kiel University’s public relations work.
