About the project
The project aims to promote social participation and to strengthen cultural sensitivity in social work through mentorship. The program offers children with minority background aged 8-12 years a positive role model (mentor) for eight months. Students who take their bachelor’s degree in social work and child welfare are active in the project as mentors. A long-term goal is to increase the number of students with minority background in higher education (universities/colleges). The Nightingale Mentoring Program is connected to the Faculty of Social Sciences and the coordinator of the program is organized in the Research Division “Social Work”.
The Nightingale Positive Role Models project is financed by the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs (Bufdir).
